The Art of Managing Your Career

> Teacher's Guide

This Teachers' Guide provides suggestions to instructors about how to use CHRC's The Art of Managing Your Career to introduce emerging artists and young people to basic principles and practices of career planning, and career development in arts and culture. The Guide can be used by teachers at the high school level. The material was created with emerging artists and cultural workers in mind. The Guide assumes instructor familiarity with the material contained in the AMYC; more advanced instruction on the relevant material will require resources not contained in the AMYC.

Each Teacher's Guide module, and the lessons within each, corresponds directly to the AMYC. Modules one to five correspond to the five chapters in the AMYC. The sixth module refers specifically to the AMYC Chart of Competencies, and pulls together material from throughout the AMYC and from modules one through five of the Teacher's Guide.

Completion of each module as a whole should provide a basic understanding of the material presented in the AMYC and a basic ability to apply this material to projects and one's career. Learning objectives specific to each module are provided in the introduction to each module, and lesson-specific learning objectives are appended to each lesson.
