March 2024

Dear readership,

We hope you are doing great!

It has been a busy winter, CHRC is still touring the country to deliver presentations for The Art of Managing Your Career and still promoting the conversation regarding IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility). Some other exciting news available in the newsworthy section.

Happy reading!

IDEA roundtable

CHRC will be holding its second IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility) focused roundtable on Friday, March 8th at 3PM EST. The first meeting held in the fall was very productive and we were left wondering “Are under-represented groups satisfied with the inclusion efforts of the last 6-7 years?” Let’s discuss and exchange knowledge on the matter to help move that conversation forward. If you wish to attend the next roundtable, feel free to contact birane.wane@culturalhrc.ca.

Workforce survey

Kelly Hill and CHRC have launched a survey to investigate affordability and working conditions in the careers of artists and other cultural workers, issues that are not covered by census data or other statistical sources. There is still time to respond! Deadline March 6th, 11:59pm PST.

Available here.

Newsworthy

Article: Art After This

Despite its worth and impact, the cultural/art sector still faces challenges. Among those is the demonstration of value, and the evidence of effective impact on society. In a recent conversation with Robin Sokoloski, David Maggs discusses these matters. A great article worth your time! Available here
