Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA)
In December of 2023, a new series of IDEA roundtables were launched with a fair turnout and interesting conversations. For the next gathering, we ask: are historically underrepresented groups satisfied with the inclusion efforts of the last six or seven years? We encourage any and all who wish to contribute to the conversation to join. Please write to firstname.lastname@example.org to add your name to the email invitation and distribution list. Reminder, these discussion groups are voluntary participation and cost-free for participants whether you are a member of CHRC or not. Folks are welcome to join even to promote their own or others’ initiatives or work in this particular field.
Special membership rate
CHRC is offering a reduced membership rate for organizations that have an IDEA Mission. Qualifying organizations may sign-up or renew with a 50% reduction of membership fees for 2024-2025 and a 25% reduction for 2025-2026. If you have any questions, please write to email@example.com.
Internship wage subsidies
Student Work Placement (SWP) program
2023-204 has been a great year so far for the SWP program which now boasts hundreds of internship opportunities. There are still (limited) funds left to disburse prior to March 31st, submit a request through our online form. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
Young Canada Works (YCW)
CHRC would like to remind cultural non-profit organizations that the application deadline for the 2024-2025 YCW funding cycle is January 19, 2024. Eligible employers benefit from wage subsidies and access a pool of college and university graduates through the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage program.

The Art of Managing Your Career
This project’s presentation phase is drawing to an end after crisscrossing the country and having visited each Province and Territory (except Nova Scotia, we’re coming!). In the upcoming weeks, presentations are scheduled for Moncton, Kingston, Vancouver, Victoria and Banff.
CHRC has fielded numerous requests to conduct market analyses. To this end, we are preparing three sector research surveys. The first two are being designed by CHRC with a peer review committee. The last of the three is being prepared by none other than Kelly Hill of Hill Strategies Research Inc..
- Individual artists’ revenue(s) survey
- Non-profit organizations’ compensation and benefits survey
- Market reality and tendencies
The first will study the revenue portfolios of artists in terms of earnings and hours dedicated to artistic output, teaching, administrative and management work as well as earnings outside of the cultural sector. The survey also covers volunteer commitments provided within and outside of the cultural sector. ANYONE who considers themselves an artist in any right, whether as a main, secondary or tertiary bread-winning effort is invited participate. We’re asking that you kindly contribute 10 to 15 minutes of your time to help with this collective research on our sector, please and thank you.
The survey on non-profit organization compensation and benefits will take 25-30 minutes to complete per organization. With a particular focus on small (1-10 employee) organizations, we seek to capture compensation levels and the necessary volunteer hours (Board of Directors or otherwise) required to run operations and tasks.
The results of these surveys and their analyses will be made available for free to any and all participants in the surveys. Otherwise, they will be available for purchase (price TBD).
For the third survey, the objective is qualitative and we already know that you’re eager to participate; after all, it’s with Kelly Hill!
We look forward to these research pieces and the information that they will provide for all involved.
